Our son, Ben Wilson was the inspiration
behind Useful Vision when he was blinded during treatment for
cancer at the age of 5. Like many other parents we found it
difficult to locate activities that would stimulate and entertain
Ben enabling him to get the most out of life. By establishing
this charity Useful Vision hopes to make access to these things
easier for other families of visually impaired children and
their siblings across the North East.
The help we offer can range from funding a hobby, to supporting
a child wanting to attend an after-school club, to organising
stimulating visits and trips. Useful Vision is run by a committee
of volunteers, enabling every penny to go towards providing
support and help with nothing being spent on big corporate offices
or paid staff. Funds are raised through annual events, local
business support and individuals fundraising in a variety of
ways, be it by running The Great North Run, having a party or
even a pony club event. We can supply a fundraising pack including
balloons, sponsorship forms and tips.
We are pushing hard to create a positive future for visually
impaired children, their parents and siblings and we hope you
will want to take advantage of what we offer.
