UCAN specialise in teaching drama to vision impaired people. Their staff are professional actors, comedians and musicians with a wealth of experience. Young people do not need any drama experience to join the course. The workshop aims to boost young people’s confidence and self esteem, help them learn new skills; improve physical and vocal confidence, whilst having fun and making new friends. During the workshop vision impaired young people are given the opportunity to experience participating in the arts, acting in a friendly safe environment and ultimately being part of a production. The ethos of UCAN is one of pure encouragement and fun, and This workshop is open to vision impaired children of all abilities aged 8 years and over. So come and have a go! The course runs from 10.30 am until 3.30 pm each day, for 3 days. With snacks and lunch provided. With a performance on the last day, Thursday at 2pm, to which everyone in the family is invited to come and watch. The UCAN staff and UV volunteers will be there to offer help for the duration of the course, so parents/carers can leave their child at the workshop for part/all of the day. However any parents/carers who would prefer to stay and help or watch are more than welcome – the more the merrier. All volunteers and staff are CRB checked. |
