15 families, including 5 new families to Useful Vision, enjoyed our recent Family Day at The Alan Shearer Centre held on Saturday 22nd May.

Hiring out the whole centre enabled the families to have full use of the hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms, soft play areas and the ball pools.  Staff from the centre also provided arts and crafts for the children and a free buffet lunch was provided for everyone.

As the day was beautiful and warm much time was spent outside in the wonderful sensory gardens.

We would like to say a big thank you to The Specials Laboratory Fund for funding our Family Activity Day and also to the staff at The Alan Shearer Centre and the Useful Vision volunteers who helped on the day.

Our next Family Day at The Alan Shearer Centre is Sunday November 28th.

....Volunteers play a vital role in the running of Useful Vision.  Their involvement helps us to reduce running costs and ensures that most of the funds we raise go on activities and events for our children, young people  and families.

Volunteers helping at Riding Day 2010

Volunteers are needed to help at activities, events and classes during weekends and school holidays.  Voluteering with Useful Vision is not a huge commitment and it can be a very rewarding experience.  All we ask is your time for 2 or 3 activities a year.  For this we offer training and support  to volunteer,  as well as out of pocket expenses.
