The County Durham Foundation kindly sponsored riding at Three Lane Ends Farm, Escomb on 3rd and 4th September. Demand was so great that we had to organise an extra group on the Saturday afternoon as well as the original three groups on the Sunday!

Riding at Escomb September 2011

Children were able to pet the animals, including rabbits and goats, whilst waiting for their 45 minute riding lesson in groups of six. A total of 16 VI children with six siblings and 19 adults attended the four sessions. Abilities ranged from confident riders to complete novices but great fun was had by all. Many thanks to all the many volunteer helpers on both days.

....Volunteers play a vital role in the running of Useful Vision.  Their involvement helps us to reduce running costs and ensures that most of the funds we raise go on activities and events for our children, young people  and families.

Volunteers helping at Riding Day 2010

Volunteers are needed to help at activities, events and classes during weekends and school holidays.  Voluteering with Useful Vision is not a huge commitment and it can be a very rewarding experience.  All we ask is your time for 2 or 3 activities a year.  For this we offer training and support  to volunteer,  as well as out of pocket expenses.
