Useful Vision present our exciting new project…

You are what you eat!

Join us on a variety of adventures to explore where your food comes from and learn cookery skills and recipes.

There are eight sessions for children and young people to get involved.

Aimed at visually impaired children and their siblings aged 8 years and over.

This project is Kindly funded by Children in Need.

Session 7 – Seafood Experience

Northumberland Seafood Centre source directly from local fishermen to introduce customers to new types of delicious seafood. The local inshore fishing fleet remain sustainable whilst customers get a plentiful supply of fresh, tasty local seafood.  They are the first seafood centre in the North of England to embrace this sustainable ethos.

Visit the lobster hatchery with a guided talk. The hatchery is interactive, informative, and engaging for all ages. Observe the whole process from the eggs hatching to the young lobsters being ready for release. Get a hands on experience with the touch tank where  you will be introduced to some local creatures, you will be surprised what you find! Afterwards, enjoy a fish and chips lunch.

To get the most out of this project, we advise children attend as many sessions as possible.

Parents that do not wish to stay are welcome to leave children, consent will be required.
