Colour Run Raises over £500!

We’re so proud to announce that one of our parents, Stacey Newton, has raised over £500 for Useful Vision by taking on the Newcastle Color Obstacle Rush 2022!

Stacey’s son, Jack, has been registered with Useful Vision for over 8 years and she describes the charity as a ‘life saver’ for her family. “We would not be able to manage without their support” She says. “Normally we would be put off going to places as it might be too busy or too much for Jack, which means both him and his sibling would miss out but Useful Vision helps us to spend time together as a family”

From fun-filled days at the farm, to action-packed sports such as climbing or kayaking, to skills workshops in cooking or crafts, Useful Vision provides exclusive and accessible activities designed to meet the needs of each child. Useful Vision aims to reduce social isolation and promote happiness and wellbeing. Stacey says, as well as enjoying the huge range of activities, her family has the opportunity meet others in a similar situation. “We talk to other families, make friends and help each other”

The event took place last weekend at Newcastle Racecourse, “We had to tackle different inflatable obstacles, a total of 5k run, while getting powder paint thrown at us!” Stacey says, “It went Amazing!”

We want to extend a huge congratulations to Stacey for her incredible effort. If you’d like to support Stacey, there’s still time to donate! Click here to visit her Just Giving page.

As a charity, we rely on grants, donations and fundraising to continue providing accessible activities, support, and life-changing opportunities for visually impaired children across the North East. We welcome all fundraising ideas and would love to support you in achieving your goals.

Another parent, Sophie-Marie Brown, is currently taking on a climbing challenge, where she will climb the height of the world’s 30 tallest buildings in 30 days! Find out more here.
